Still The Waters
By Zarah Parker

Still the waters quiet,
like the break of rain
Or the moment the sky turns pink
to orange, to black.

Hush the trembling hands
when a fire’s burning too bright,
but the burn is almost soothing
like a comforting touch.

Leave the rest to where it lay,
that wrestle upon my unbridled mind,
and I’ll let them far away roam,
while I sink beneath tranquility.
