I must thank you for recommending The Shallows. It’s having a rather profound impact on how I’m imagining a mind, my mind, behaves in regard to persuasive re-imaging. The fact that all minds are plastic, to some degree, opens far more possibilities of transformation that I’d previously thought possible. Descartes’ adage: “I think therefore I am” suddenly speaks more of a truism than just a philosophy.

That’s great, I’m glad you’re liking it. It had the same effect on me. I read it probably a year ago and still think about it pretty often.
