In The Light, Not In The Light
By Zarah Parker

Close two
lids and rest in depth

of a mirror image
that reflects a truth

but is not.
And the eyes

close; slip into
where darkness lies.

We’re all shadows,
liars;

only a fraction of the
beauty we’re

meant to
be.

You may have noticed (but probably not) that I never posted a book review in July and it’s almost the end of August. I’m struggling to finish the book, so we’ll just see if that’ll happen.

Anyway, I make no promises. Here’s a poem. Enjoy.

Plus, I turn 26 on the 26th of August! It’s the birthday of birthdays.
